We are all one race but we are not all one. We all have traditions and cultures unique to our communities and social circles. Not all of those cultures or traditions are positive either. It’s important we learn the value of context before we try to make ourselves feel good about things that should bother us.
Yet we should also not be afraid to confront stark moral differences in our cultures and traditions. We should do all we can to avoid becoming defensive and hostile, malicious and hateful, when confronted by these differences.
However, we must also never, under any circumstance, tolerate any culture or tradition centered around hurting, demeaning, or essentially destroying a group of people purely on superficial and insignificant grounds.
